About Us

Clean Technology Company

Setu Technologies Inc. (Setu) is a clean technology company based in Victoria. Setu is founded by Dr. Rishi Gupta who has over 20 years of experience in fiber-reinforced concrete development, but more importantly, he has experience in the application of this technology in real-world settings.

Setu is leading the advancement of recycled and virgin plastic concrete reinforcement technology to improve the sustainability and resilience of infrastructure. Setu's patented concrete reinforcement technology enables the use of industrial waste products to coat concrete fibers, resulting in exceptionally durable civil infrastructure. Green Surface Treated Fibers (GSTF) which have been patented by Setu Technologies, can be manufactured from 100% recycled plastic waste. The innovative coating on the reinforcement fibers improves the weak Interfacial Transition Zone (ITZ) leading to better bonding and long-term durability of the world’s most used construction material "Concrete."

Recyled Plastic Concrete Reinforcement Fibers

Recycle plastic concrete reinforcement fibers provide a sustainable and high-performance alternative to traditional steel reinforcement. Made with up to 100% recycled plastic waste, these fibers help reduce the burden on our landfill and plastic pollution, while supporting a circular economy. Unlike steel, recycled plastic fibers are unaffected by corrosion, ensuring long-term durability and preventing costly maintenance. Incorporation of these fibers improves the weak Interfacial Transition Zone (ITZ) in concrete, enhancing the overall tensile strength of the structure.

In addition to the environmental benefits provided, recycled plastic reinforcement fibers are cost-effective and lightweight, allowing for easier transport, handling and installation compared to steel. This can lead to faster construction times and lower labor costs. By choosing recycled plastic concrete reinforcement fibers, builders can achieve more durable, greener, and stronger structures.

What makes us different?

  • We also carry Virgin Fibers
  • We custom-cut fibers based on client needs
  • Synthetic fibers can be from 100% recycled waste
  • Our fibers can be coated with a patented technology

A demonstration was completed in March of 2022 at a ready-mix concrete plant. This included the construction of a fiber-reinforced concrete bus pad for BC transit and the District of Saanich. In the long-run Setu is well set to meet the enormous global demand for innovative and low-carbon sustainable materials. The team is also working on a whole bunch of new fibers that will take the infrastructure industry a notch higher.

The ultimate aim of Setu Technologies is to develop a modern green infrastructure technology that can conserve natural resources and help reduce the overall cost of construction and the impacts that infrastructure has on climate change.
